Prague's most unusual hotel is housed in a former Baroque palace!

As I drove past it a few days ago, I was surprised not to have featured the Boutique Hotel Questenberg more prominently on the blog! It deserves to be for several reasons, which I'll explain here:

  • A great location
  • A very atypical building
  • A high level of comfort
  • Excellent feedback from the visitors I accompany on my guided tours

Hotel location in Prague

The Boutique Hotel Questenberg is ideally located in the picturesque district of Hradčany. You couldn't be closer to Prague Castle, just a few meters away! It offers quick access to the city's most iconic sites, making it one of Prague's best hotels for travelers wishing to explore the city's rich history on foot. Simply walk down the slope to enjoy the unique panorama and reach Charles Bridge and Old Town Square in just a few minutes after crossing the Malá Strana district. The hotel is an ideal choice for those looking for a charming hotel in Prague that combines historic charm with modern comfort. And to get back to the hotel after a good day spent wandering the streets of Prague, there's no need to go uphill! Tram 22 (known as "historic") or tram 23 (known as "retro" or "nostalgic") will get you back to your destination effortlessly. I love the 23, because some of the vehicles are really superb!

A romantic and unusual hotel in Prague

The Boutique Hotel Questenberg offers luxurious and charming accommodation in a beautifully preserved historic building.

It's an early 17th century Baroque palace that looks like a church!

It was once the private residence of Kaspar de Questenberg, a German priest and abbot of the Strahov monastery. The hotel is still owned by the family, who obviously take great care of it. If you're coming to Prague as a couple, especially to celebrate an anniversary of any kind, I highly recommend this romantic Prague address.

A very comfortable and quiet hotel in Prague

The Boutique Hotel Questenberg features 27 elegant rooms. Whether you're coming to Prague for a romantic weekend, a family vacation or a business trip, the Hotel Questenberg promises a very comfortable stay in one of the city's most beautiful districts. The view is superb, too, which doesn't spoil a thing!

Good to know: if you're afraid of mass tourism and the proximity of the Castle, the hotel is very, very quiet (as is U Raka nearby). Once the visitors have left the complex at around 5 p.m., the place is absolutely unbelievably quiet! It's like being in a village, like the nearby Nový Svět district.

Tip: to enjoy the Castle in complete tranquility, stroll around the complex around 8 or 9 p.m. – it's magical!

A popular hotel in Prague

Absolutely every visitor I've met has praised the hotel (which is why I'm writing this article right now!). Nearby you'll find some very nice restaurants (Kuchyň for Czech cuisine, Malý Buddha for Asian cuisine, hOST for Italian cuisine, Vegan's for vegetarian or vegan cuisine…), a real brasserie frequented by locals and with a welcome that's not very warm most of the time, but that's part of the experience (U Černého vola), a nice toy store (Rocking Horse Toy Shop)…
